Les Baux-de-Provence

The optional tour to Baux turned out to be quite interesting.  A 45 minutes ride took us from Arles to Baux, a mountain commune with trace of human habitation dating back as far as 6000 BC was found.  Along the way, we saw tree-lined lanes, and a few abbeys.

Once arriving Baux, one can make a little climb and run into interesting shops and finally a chapel on the top.

I enjoyed a visual journey to the heart of Gauguin and Van Gough's art via projection on the immense surface of the quarries (Carrieres de Lumieres) .  The visitors feel a total immersion in the pictorial world of the two painters' work all around them. The following are a few examples of what I saw inside the "theater".
